About the Tests – SAT/ACT Tutoring – SAT Subject TestsPSAT

KTS offers SAT and ACT prep in private tutoring sessions at a mutually agreed upon time and place, for the private tutoring rate, plus a one-time fee to cover the cost of the prep book and materials.

KTS occasionally offers small-class tutoring to introduce students to the SAT and ACT tests. The next SAT and ACT classes are described below (following the testimonials).

A student’s SAT score is usually derived by taking the highest score in each subject from all of the SAT tests the student has taken. Thus, the Math score may come from the March exam, the Critical Reading score from the June exam, and the Writing score from the October exam. When a student only needs to improve in one or two areas, private tutoring can be particularly useful, and many students are increasingly choosing this option over group classes, so that their individual needs can be addressed. All learning styles (including ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, dyslexia, and dyscalculia) can be accommodated.

A student’s ACT score, the Composite Score, is an average of the four individual subject scores (English, Math, Reading, and Science). The student must submit to colleges the test date with the highest composite score. Private tutoring can be very useful in helping the student improve the individual subject scores, thus improving the composite score.

KTS specializes in working with athletes who are being recruited and need to raise their college entrance test scores, as well as with students with learning differences.

For private tutoring, students usually attend one-hour sessions once a week. These sessions can take place in school or outside of school (afternoon, evening, or weekend) at a mutually convenient time and place. Please call (401) 595-9350 to make private tutoring arrangements.

Cindy also provided useful guidance with the college essay.” Barrington High School Parent

“I enrolled in private prep classes for the SAT and ACT through Kaplan Tutoring Services. I found both classes extremely helpful to me. My SAT score increased more than 200 points, and my ACT score improved by 10 points. I would recommend Kaplan Tutoring Services because the style of tutoring provided a sense of familiarity for both the SAT and ACT formats.” LaSalle Academy Student

“My daughter was very relieved that Kaplan Tutoring could be tailored to her busy academic and sports schedule. She took sessions that addressed all areas of the SAT, with an emphasis on Math. All areas of her SAT scores improved dramatically.” Barrington High School Parent

“I wanted a test prep program for my son, and Cindy advised me that the ACT test would be a better test than the SAT test for my son to take. She was right! He received a great composite score, and that is what he is going to use for his college applications.” Barrington High School Parent

“Cindy was very helpful to us as parents. She was accessible. She gave us an overview of the entire SAT/ACT process, sent us e-mail reminders of important dates, accommodated our schedule, took the time to answer our many questions, and went out of her way to help us get our questions answered.” Harry Elkin Midrasha Parent

“Thank you so much for assisting me with all of my college essays. I would not be where I am headed today without your help!” Student Accepted to Emory University
